History
- First settlements on this territory date back to 5th century B.C., when it was inhabited by Ilirs
- In 2nd century it was invaded by Romans, and it became a commercial centre
- From 535 A.D. it was under Byzantinian authority
- Slovens started to populate the territory of Budva in the beginning of 7th century
- After the period under serbian authority, the Republic of Venice conquered this territory in the beginning of 16 th century
- In 1797. it was invaded by Austria
- In 1806. and 1807. Budva was under russian administration
- During 1807. through 1813. it was under french authority
- After that, it was conquered by Austria and has remained under its authority till World War I
